Aeroplan Member and Funny Lady Tracy Dawson

Tracy Dawson, is an actress, a screenwriter, an Aeroplan Member, and now a Gemini Award winner.  She is also extremely talented and witty, but it took more than a few jokes and some wise cracks to get her to where she is today.

Tracy began her career in the comedy scene of Toronto doing sketch work and stand up work which eventually led to her gig on the Second City Main Stage.  TV work followed shortly after and she has been working hard as a writer and an actress on various projects ever since.

Currently,Tracy plays Meghan Fitzpatrick on the HBO Canada/TMN comedy “Call me Fitz,” which she recently won the Gemini Award for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role.

We caught up with Tracy in Toronto.

Aeroplan: You’ve been shooting “Call me Fitz” in Nova Scotia for 3 seasons, how has your experience in Nova Scotia been for far?
Tracy Dawson:
I  LOVE shooting in Nova Scotia. I adore it! We stay at a beautiful, charming place called the Blomidon Inn in Wolfville and they have taken such good care of us these past two seasons, I literally cannot say enough about Mike and his awesome team of employees at the Blom. The food is amazing (I literally start getting excited about what I’m going to eat there especially when it comes to their Sunday brunch and their afternoon tea).

Aeroplan: Have you done much sightseeing in Nova Scotia?
Tracy Dawson:
We don’t get much sight seeing time because the schedule is heavy and the days are long. However, last year a few of us drove down to Digby neck for the day and had scallops and went whale watching and we saw a humpback! And then we all got sea sick and drove home.

Aeroplan:
Recently we asked our members on Facebook and Twitter if they rather fly first class, but have a lot of stops, or fly coach direct.  What would you prefer and why?
Tracy Dawson: Oh my gosh that’s a tough one! It really depends on the flight. I have only flown first a couple of times and I loved it. Obviously. But it was direct.
Um…I’d have to say I’d likely always choose First. If it was LA to London I’d of course take First (wouldn’t mind a stop over/break in the 12 hour haul especially if there’s vodka involved!) For a short haul from Toronto to NYC I’m happy to fly coach on Air Canada because AC has great seats and individual TVs!

Aeroplan: Can you tell us about some of your favourite travel experiences?
Tracy Dawson: I do occasionally take trips just so I can see the theatre. In 2008 I flew LA to NYC to see August Osage County and Sunday in the Park with George.  I then continued on to London to see my oldest friend who was doing his doctorate on Harold Pinter. We saw a couple of Pinter one acts in the west end and took the train up to Edinburgh for a few days. That was a magnificent trip! Makes me sound terribly cultured too so I like telling that story.

My most recent trip, which was booked entirely with Aeroplan Miles, was to NYC to see the theatre: Book of Mormon, War Horse, and Sleep No More. It was glorious! Seeing great theater is rejuvenating to me. Like going to a spa for my heart & soul.

Aeroplan: Where is the one place you’ve always wanted to travel to and why?
Tracy Dawson: One place? Are you kidding? Well…top of my list right now is Italy. Hands down. I want to eat all the food and sit in a square in Rome and drink great coffee and talk to Italian boys and men and get into arguments and just live Italy. I really really want this. I’d like to add India and Spain to that list too.

Aeroplan: Which city do you look forward to traveling to when it’s work related?
Tracy Dawson: I do travel a lot for work and I’m always excited about going back to Nova Scotia since we stay in lovely Wolfville, as I mentioned earlier. I got to travel to St. John’s last year for a film festival and I loved it SO MUCH! I’m bugging my new friend Allan Hawco to get me a guest role on Republic of Doyle (he assures me it’s imminent!) just so I can get back to Newfoundland. I really loved it there.

Being in NYC recently I got very dreamy about wishing to be brought back there for work. I have a new creative team in LA and there’s nothing we’d love more than to get me on an American series. And lots of series shoot in NYC. What a dream that would be! To live and work part of the year in New York City? To get to see every show on and off Broadway on your days off? I think I would die of happiness!

You can catch Tracy Dawson and the entire Call me Fitz cast on HBO Canada/ TMN Sunday nights at 8:30pm ET/MT.

Why do mileage credits for purchases not show up instantly?
Why does it take so long to see the credit on the account?
Example: purchase gas at ESSO no record of mileage credit for days.
Are we not in a technological world?

Dear aeroplan. I think all the feel good marketing and imagery doesn’t do anything to cover the fact that people feel cheated. A “free flight” to Europe is sometimes about $1000 and the savings vs a paid ticket only maybe a couple or few hundred dollars. And for that your customers are supposed to spend tens of thousands, maybe in excess of 100000 points? This loyalty program is only loyal to the executives receiving fat bonus checks. It’s becoming increasingly a scam. Aeroplan used to be the best program in the star alliance network. It’s likely something close to the worst now.

Calling the contact center? Unless that member is SE they will be on hold for an hour! What is the website for? To frustrate searches so members can spend another $30 on a phone reservation?

Aeroplan is RIPPING OFF LOYAL customers.
Tripling and quadrupling points required for flights within Canada and ZERO availbility of economy flights up to 1 year in advance.

    ATROCIOUS!!
DON’T EXPECT TO STAY IN BUSINESS LONG!
