With all due respect Lesley. Your blog question brings up a point that members have asked for a long time with fuel surcharges. This isn’t the first Aeroplan has heard of this and rather than members complaining to AC, Aeroplan should be dealing with this issue. I had planned to go to Tokyo using my points but $650 in taxes with AC, 90% being fuel surcharge just won’t cut it. Neither does the option of flying around different U.S cities with another carrier before finally leaving for Tokyo. Funny enough, Tokyo isn’t on your list, is it cause of the high tax rate? Michael is absolutely right. And please, no need for the “Gov tax imposed” line. This is about Airline fuel sure charges not taxes imposed. Aeroplan should really wake up on this issue since other rewards card programs like Capital One have a much better program without cheating the customer out of hard earned points and money.
