Things to do in Paris

Updated February 2014

The City of Lights is romantic year-round. PHOTOGRAPHY ALAMY

Everyone loves Paris in the springtime. But the City of Lights is just right any time of year. In autumn, the outdoor cafés are packed with people who need a little warm-up or pick-me-up. Come winter, folks sneak into a bistro for a bowl of soupe de poisson, served with a chunk of fresh bread to soak up every drop. In spring, stroll the Tuileries Garden and watch the children play with their model sailboats in the large fountain. Summer is the ideal time for a cruise on the Seine, breeze blowing through your hair. Or wander the quaint streets of Les Marais, browsing through specialty bookshops and stopping for the city’s best kosher eats. Paris will quickly seduce all, including the most jaded traveler.

Aeroplan Members are pretty seasoned travelers.  We’ve asked them for their opinion when it comes to their top picks for where to stay, where to eat, and what to do. We’ve tallied all their votes and have been able to identify the best of Paris, as voted by our Aeroplan Members.

Where to Stay

We’ve asked our Aeroplan Members which Aeroplan Partner Hotels they prefer to stay with when travelling to Paris and they have made their voices heard.

The W Paris-Opéra interior is in stark contrast to the hotel’s Haussmann-era exterior. From the modern lobby; stylish W Lounge, to the cozy and uniquely designed rooms, you’ll find yourself admiring the new age feel that contrasts the architectural style of the 1800s. Situated a block away from Opéra Garnier, the Louvre, the Galeries Lafayette department store, guests of the hotel are in the perfect location to enjoy the joie de vivre that Paris has to offer with respect to culture and the arts. Guests to the hotel praise the W Paris- Opéra’s beds and staff alike. Offering exceptional service, the staff ensures your stay is a memorable one. It’s no wonder Aeroplan Members chose the W Paris-Opéra as its locations and amenities provides the best of what Paris has to offer.

What to Do

The Louvre
One of the world’s largest and most famous museums in the world, The Louvre is a central landmark in Paris. With over 30,000 objects spanning across several centuries, and exhibited in over 60,000 square meters, the Louvre is visited by roughly ten million visitors each year. Originally built as a fortress, this museum will dazzle and illuminate the mind. Whether you want to admire the Mona Lisa, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, or other world renowned pieces of art; you will find something to marvel at within its breath-taking halls. Due to the size and nature of the Louvre, it is recommended that you do not try and cover all that the Museum has to offer in one day, instead plan your visits so that you can truly appreciate the experience since a stay in Paris should definitely include a visit to the Louvre.
