  1. Memphis Sun Studio – This is where Elvis Presley recorded his first song.  It’s also where legends like Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and many more started their Rock ‘n’ Roll career.   The tour of Sun Studio is great for music experts and fans.
  2. National Civil Rights Museum  –  This is one of the best civil rights museums and one of the most informative ones.  It’s a great experience and we suggest that you plan to stay at the museum for at least 3-5 hours.  There is so much information, you won’t want to leave.
  3. Stax Museum of American Soul Music – Another great place to learn about music history, this time it’s all about soul!  Although the original Stax Studios was torn down, the museum is located on the same spot, it’s a must see and must visit piece of Memphis history.

I’ve always wanted to see and explore Memphis. Living in St. John’s, on the east coast of Canada, makes Memphis a difficult destination to work into a travel plan.

Aside from its most famous musician in the blue suede shoes, Memphis also gave rise to such musical greats as Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King and Johnny Cash. To explore the places where these icons got their start would be a dream come true! Married to a gifted musician, I know that winning this trip would be such a breathtaking gift to share with my husband.

The history of Memphis also makes it a real dream destination for us. Avid history buffs, we have many historical reasons for wanting to visit Memphis. From the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement, Memphis has a story like no other American city. No other city in the United States can boast such a central position, at so many pivotal points, in the country’s history.

Winning this contest would really be a dream come true for my husband and myself. If we win, we’ll wear blue suede shoes on the plane!

    Please pick us!

This trip would be a unique experience for myself and my husband as we are both Elvis fans. As teenagers we were dancing to Elvis’s music. We will be 42 years married at the end of March. We love to explore new and unique adventures. An unforgettable wedding anniversary adventure!!

My parents raised me on listening to Elvis. When they immigrated from Greece over 40 years ago, Elvis was the first music they listened to when they arrived in Canada. The passed this tradition on to me.

Memphis is one of those iconic cities that has a rich musical history. I have travelled and spent time in New Orleans, Chicago and Seattle. Up next on the wish is Memphis.

Not with standing the music, when one mentions BBQ, it’s easy to close ones eyes and be washed away with visions of smokers, the smells and the sounds of ribs, chicken and briskest.

Music and food – two great and simple reasons to want to travel to Memphis.
