A Great Start to 2014!

Well 2014 is definitely off to a great start. As I’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, our objective for 2014 and beyond is to deliver a best in class experience for you; an outstanding overall customer journey both while you accumulate miles and when you redeem them.

Distinction benefits are now live. In addition to what I’ve blogged about previously, we have added new ones since early January, like Distinction Flights. Distinction Flights offers our members 100% of the seats reserved for Distinction members on select flights departing from popular cities across the country to sunny destinations during the peak travel season. Needless to say these flights are really popular with our Members and I’m looking forward to hearing what you think about them once they take off!

We’ve heard great feedback from our members and I know a lot of you are taking advantage of earning miles throughout the year to ensure you reach Distinction Status. Mike from Toronto is one of those members who reached dDiamond and he told us that “taking advantage of all the promotions and using my credit card like crazy” was the way he was able to reach his dDiamond status.

This wasn’t the only significant enhancement to the program; our Market Fare Flight Rewards are now live and members have been taking advantage of the great value. The savings can be amazing, especially when you are a Distinction member! I’ve heard from dBlack Members who have been able to redeem for flights at incredible value – all with the flexibility of every seat on every Air Canada plane.  Again, Market Fare Flight Rewards offer our members more flight options and seats on Air Canada flights when our Classic Flight Rewards are sold out or arent’t the best option for you. As a Distinction Member you receive a discount off these flights making them very attractive.

We also enhanced our Destination Miles, the service exclusive to Aeroplan which allows members to book hotels and car rentals at competitive rates while earning Aeroplan Miles on every dollar spent. Destination Miles now offers a better travel shopping and reservation experience with improved results listings, better filtering options, detailed search results, and more.

As we approach our 30th anniversary in July, we’re planning additional enhancements that will help transform the Aeroplan program, making it even better for members. All this plus our new suite of credit cards ensures that 2014 will be an exciting year for you!

As always I appreciate your comments and try to respond to as many of your questions as I can. I’d love to hear from you, so let me know your experience with our new enhancements.

Still all kinds of trouble receiving qualifying air miles on a premium plus flight to New Zealand via NZ Air, AC’s partner. An indifferent response at first then no response from Aeroplan. About to book a business class trip to South America and continue to look at options.

    Not a great start to 2014 !!

I returned from Dubai to Winnipeg on Feb. 8, 2014. From Dubai to Istanbul we flew on Turkish Airlines flight 763. The balance of the flight was with Air Canada.

We are still waiting for mileage credit for Dubai to Istanbul. The boarding passes and ticket information have all been sent to Aeroplan.

Please tell me, in this day of modern technology, how it can take over two and a half months to get a credit. This is not the first time this has happened to me. I had a similar problem with an Air Brussels flight last year from Brussels to Berlin.

This type of service does not promote loyalty. If Turkish Airlines is the problem, perhaps they should not be a partner !

    Very unimpressed !

      Hi Art,
It can take up to 8 weeks to credit miles for a flight once your send in your boarding passes. If you would like to follow up on your missing miles the best thing to do would be to call our Contact Center. The phone number is 800-361-5373.

I recently checked into a flight from Sydney, Australia to Vancouver. On check in I was told altitude 35 did not receive any priority bag tags, was not eligible for x press lane service or priority boarding.
At what loyalty level do members receive priority service?

      Hi Jay,
I invite you to share your feedback directly with Air Canada as they manage their boarding policies.
      Thank you,
