Top 5 places your kids will love in Vancouver

Vancouver has long been a place where nature enthusiasts, adventure seekers, and art lovers venture, but did you know that it’s one of the best places in Canada for a family vacation? From entire islands devoted to fun to an indoor rainforest (and a real one!), it’s easy to see why your kids will love Vancouver, too. Read on to find out our picks for the top 5 places to visit with your kids.

Granville Island

This island in the middle of the city features waterfront entertainment, fudge and donut sampling, a water park and a market just for kids. From the ferry ride over to the colourful sights and sounds, your kids will adore this island filled with fun.

The Aquarium

Located in the heart of Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium is Canada’s largest and has over 50,000 animals from across the world to discover. Highlights include whale watching, the Graham Gallery (a rainforest inside the aquarium!) fun interactive activities celebrating conservation and a shark tank. Time your visit right and your kids can even sleep over at the aquarium!

Science World

Inspire your future scientist by visiting Science World. Take part in special make-and-take activities where your child can take what they learned home, experiment with water, light, sound and motion at the Eureka Gallery, or immerse yourself in the latest Omnimax Theatre experience with a screen that’s 5 storeys high! There is plenty to learn and love.


Lynn Canyon Park

This rainforest habitat is a hit with kids and is a fun way to learn more about Vancouver’s natural setting. In the summer, your kids can even swim in the crystal-clear waters of a natural pool. Or stand beneath the waterfall for fun, family photos. Don’t forget to visit the Ecology Centre which offers hands-on plant and animal displays, puppets to play with and more.

Maplewood Farm 

What kid doesn’t want to play with animals? Near Mount Seymour, about a 20-minute drive from downtown Vancouver, this farm boasts rabbits, sheep, birds, cows, pigs, goats, horses and other farm animals. You can even meet the farm hands, go for a pony or tractor ride or feed the animals. Visit in spring and you’ll also be able to view and interact with baby animals.


BONUS: Playland

This amusement park is open late April to the end of September as part of the Pacific National Exhibition. It features 35 exciting rides and attractions including the classic wooden roller coaster, ATMOSFEAR and the Hellevator. It’s sure to be a hit with the whole family!
