My mistake – Purchasing on my Scotia card would have been $1398 plus 40,000 points!

Aeroplan has finally killed the golden goose!

Booking a September round trip for two to London, England, I am given a choice of 119,000 points and $1398 worth of ‘fees and taxes’, or 120,000 miles and $1490 of fees. On my Scotia card I can buy the same trip. same flights, for $1398 approximately.

Aeroplan points are now useless andI will cancel my Aerogold card!

      Hi Tom,
All tickets booked by other loyalty programs in Canada are also subject to these taxes, fees and surcharges, where applicable. We are aware that not all airlines apply taxes, fees, and fuel surcharges in the same way. Aeroplan applies the taxes, fees and surcharges on its reward tickets on behalf of Air Canada and are paid in full to Air Canada.
      Thank you,
      Jason
